Critical Thinking: Psychologists must be critical thinkers, as all scientists are. Critical thinking “is the process of reflecting deeply and actively, asking questions, and evaluating the evidence”. When you think critically you are supposed to ask yourself how you know something. Another key to being a critical thinker is to question and test what some people believe to be facts. Critical thinkers do hours and hours of research to ensure something is correct, or even incorrect. Critical thinkers are the reason facts are facts, rather than strong opinions from just any person. They research they do proves statements to be true or false. “Actively engaging in critical thinking is vital to making the most of psychology”. Critical thinking is important in everyone’s lives; it’s what gets us through some of the toughest situations. You should do your best to use critical thinking in your everyday decisions because it helps prevent any regrets that might come about down the line.
I agree that critical thinking is important in everyone's lives and should be applied to ensure good decisions. Critical thinking plays a large role in the study of communication as well as psychology. When applied the result is less likely to be biased. I also believe that we should all try our best to use critical thinking in our everyday lives. Critical thinking and communication skills can be used in so many different aspects of our lives, whether it be personal or business. I often do find myself asking how I know something, testing to see if whats in question is accurate or not.
ReplyDeleteI found myself agreeing with most of your post. Something was tickling my brain forcing me to re-read this post a few times until I understood what was bothering me. I respectfully disagree with you about a couple of items in your post. One item being that critical thinkers are the reason facts are facts. I view facts being facts because of the evidence involved in proving them to be facts. I can think critically and still come to a false conclusion. I would agree that it is our critical thinking that allows us to posit provable tests to establish facts. I guess my brain was just stuttering over the implied jump in logic.
