Week 7. Question #3

Object language is defined as "all intentional and nonintentional displays of material thins", including art objects, the human body, etc. According to William James "the sum total of all that he can call his, not only his body and his psychic process, but his clothes and his house...". Object language seems to have a wide variety meaning. Our object language is the things that we hold in our possession. Our possessions are the things that we own, the things that we can call ours. Our possessions tend to be as public symbols of the things we value. They symbol our status as well as our financial standings. These are the things that people use to form their opinion about us, such as our identity. They also help up us to gain a sense of our own self. Objective language is important to our communication because it is apart of us and they are the things that are important to us, whether we see it or not.
